A Prayer for Hope
Rev. Annesto H. Younger
Dear Heavenly Father:
We, your servants bow before you in humble submission, thanking you first for your grace and your mercy.
We come before today in need of hope; hope for the times of frustration; hope for our moments of weakness; hope for our days of doubt and dismay; hope for our losses and sadness; hope for our pain and lack of patience; and most of all hope for our future. We know that without hope, we would not be able to survive all the cares of this world.
We understand that to have hope we must believe and trust in the power of your love for us, gifted to us through Jesus Christ.
We must recognize that our hope, the divine and confident expectation, can only be realized by embracing the Promises of God rooted in the Word of God.
And so today, we ask that You, the God of all creation, fill us with hope and give us a tangible reminder today that hope is an “unbreakable spiritual lifeline” (Hebrews 6:7 MSG).
Help us, dear Lord, to see hope in the clouds of chaos; to hear hope above the noise of this world and to feel hope in the warm embrace of your love. We can then rejoice with the words pinned by Edward Mote:
“My hope is built, on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteous
I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but holy lean on Jesus name.
When darkness veils His lovely face, I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale, my anchor holds within the veil.
On Christ the solid rock I stand. All other ground is sinking sand”.
